Building a custom home is a way to ensure that your home meets your needs. When you Partner with Compassion Builders, you can trust that you not only build the home of your dreams but you are getting the absolute best home for you and your family.
Compassion Builders believes in building homes that will last. They should incorporate excellence in design, energy efficiency, durability and safety. For this reason, we aim to use the most durable products and include a storm shelter in every home we build. Many builders focus mainly on the finishes. We believe the actual structure is equally as important to the lifespan and cost to keep your home. This is why we incorporate many features as standard that others ignore.
The photo above shows a custom 3600-square foot farm house with a 3-car garage. The walls were 2×6 construction topped with nailed on (no flimsy staples) 5/8-inch CDX Plywood to help it withstand the high winds it receives. The thickness of the walls allowed for a R-19 of fire and insect resistant cellulose insulation. This insulation provides excellent sound dampening as well.
This client chose a foam backed vinyl siding for the added insulation as well as its impact and wind resistance. Wide lineal trim around the windows definitely makes a statement.
The photo to the right shows an amazing white Shaker kitchen that features a duel oven and lots of excellent storage. The farm style sink sits centered in front of a wide window that floods the kitchen with natural light. The black island is a nice contrast to the white cabinet and features a cooktop, prep sink and warming oven. We raised the center of the island to accommodate the needed electrical plugs as well as to avoid a long joint in the granite countertops.
The picture to the left shows the wood burning fireplace. Natural stone veneer adds to the warmth. Blowers built into this fireplace allows this client to supplement their geothermal heating. And since it uses wood as a fuel source it ensures they will have a heat source if the power ever went out during the cold Iowa winters.
The photo below shows a sleek curved wall shower in the master bathroom. This was a solution to a problem that presented itself once the framing was up. They wanted to be able to shower comfortably together and the existing shower wouldn’t allow for that. The other part of this problem was we couldn’t relocate it in a way that worked for the client as well as didn’t want to encroach the hallway into the bathroom.
We solved this issue by eliminating the linen closet and extending the shower into its place. The curved detailing of the wall allowed the additional space without interrupting the flow into the bathroom. The showers entrance location combined with the added curb eliminated the need for a door. This shower features 2 separately controlled shower heads as well as natural lighting provided by the window that doubles as a niche to place your personal care products. This is a great example of the custom home building solutions that Compassion Builders provides.
